🎬 March 2026 Rundown: Paradise on Hulu, One Piece on Netflix & Star Trek: Starfleet Academy

By Scene N Nerd Podcast — Sarah Belmont & Will Polk

March 2026 is stacked. Whether you're deep in a bunker conspiracy, sailing the Grand Line, or enrolled at the Federation's finest academy, this month has something for every nerd. Here's our full breakdown of what we are reviewing this month.

🏔️Paradise — Season 2 (Hulu)

New episodes every Monday | Finale: March 30

Paradise burst out of the gate with its Season 2 premiere on February 23, dropping the first three episodes at once and things have already gone sideways. After Season 1 kept us locked inside a bunker unraveling a murder mystery, Season 2 has ripped the doors wide open. We're now above ground in a post-apocalyptic landscape, and the show is leaning hard into survival thriller territory.

Sterling K. Brown and Julianne Nicholson continue to anchor the series, but the expanded scope of Season 2 is a double-edged sword. The intimate, claustrophobic tension of the bunker gave way to something bigger and whether that's better depends on how much you bought into the conspiracy threads from Season 1.

What we're watching for in March:

  • How the show balances its political thriller roots with the new survival stakes
  • Whether Samantha's leadership arc pays off or buckles under the weight of new threats
  • The finale on March 30. Paradise has earned a reputation for jaw-dropping endings, and we expect nothing less

Our take: Paradise remains one of the most underrated shows on streaming. If you slept on Season 1, catch up now. The weekly rollout is perfect for theorizing and breaking down — which is exactly what we'll be doing every week on the pod.

🏴‍☠️ One Piece — Season 2: Into the Grand Line (Netflix)

Full season drops March 10

This is the big one. Netflix's live-action One Piece was the surprise hit of 2023, and Season 2 subtitled, Into the Grand Line, premieres March 10 with a full season drop. They're even doing theatrical screenings in over 200 theaters across the US and Canada on launch day. That's the kind of confidence that tells you Netflix knows they've got something special.

Season 2 picks up where we left off, covering the Arabasta Saga from Loguetown through the Drum Island Arc. The cast is expanding massively over 30 new actors are joining, including:

  • Mikaela Hoover as Tony Tony Chopper
  • Lera Abova as Ms. All Sunday (Nico Robin)
  • Rigo Sanchez as Dragon
  • Yonda Thomas as Igaram

Iñaki Godoy returns as Monkey D. Luffy alongside the full Straw Hat crew, and a third season is already in production so this isn't slowing down anytime soon.

What we're watching for in March:

  • How they handle Chopper, one of the most beloved characters in anime, and a huge test for the live-action format
  • The introduction of Robin and the broader Grand Line world-building
  • Whether the show can maintain the charm and heart of Season 1 while scaling up the action

Our take: One Piece Season 1 nailed the tone in a way nobody expected. If Season 2 delivers on Drum Island and the emotional beats of Chopper's backstory, this could be the defining live-action anime adaptation. We'll be spreading out our reviews over the course of the month.

🖖 Star Trek: Starfleet Academy — Season 1 Finale (Paramount+)

Episode 9: March 5 | Episode 10 (Finale): March 12

Starfleet Academy is sprinting toward its Season 1 finish line, and March brings us the final two episodes. Episode 9, "300th Night," drops March 5, written by Kirsten Beyer and directed by none other than Jonathan Frakes. That's a significant milestone: this will be one of the final Star Trek episodes to air on Paramount+ with the new merger closing out an era for the franchise on the platform.

The season has been building toward a confrontation as the cadets face escalating threats during what should be a celebratory tradition, the 300th Night. Expect high stakes, character payoffs, and the kind of emotional gut punches Trek does best when it's firing on all cylinders.

What we're watching for in March:

  • Whether the finale sticks the landing, first seasons live or die on their endings
  • Jonathan Frakes behind the camera for Episode 9 (the man knows how to direct Trek)
  • How the show sets up Season 2 while still delivering a satisfying close to this chapter
  • The bigger picture: what does this mean for Star Trek's future beyond Paramount+?

Our take: We've been covering Starfleet Academy week by week, and it's been a ride. It's a different flavor of Trek...younger, more character-driven, but it's earned its place. The Frakes-directed penultimate episode has us especially hyped. Expect full breakdowns of both episodes on the Blerd Trek feed.
