AT and T Business (0:00): Before we had AT and T Business Wireless coverage, our delivery GPS wasn't the most reliable. Once our driver had to do a 14 turn to get back on route. A 14 turn and influence or even livestream the whole thing. Not good for business. Now with AT and T Business Wireless, routes are updating on the fly and deliveries are on time.
AT and T Business (0:21): And the influencer did get us 53 new followers though. AT and T Business Wireless, connecting changes everything.
Unknown Speaker (0:29): Hey, blurts and nerds. We have a Star Trek related trailer to talk about. Priority one message from Starfleet coming in on secured channel. Welcome back to Cedar Nerd presents Blur Trek. Last weekend's Star Trek.
Will (0:43): For the week ending 06/27/2026. I'm Will. And, apparently, if you can command the Enterprise, you can also wear the cowl. Because this week, we got a new trailer for the Batman Nightfall project. Project.
Will (1:00): What's the Star Trek related angle to this? Then, Mount is returning to play the Dark Knight in Nightfall Part one, which is a new animated Batman feature that is going to be released later this year. Now, this is the second time that Anson has portrayed the Dark Knight. He first portrayed the character and provided voice work in the animated Injustice film back in 2021. And so, what does Mount bring to as Pike to Batman?
Will (1:27): I think just calm authority, the moral burden, and the leadership under pressure, and that tragic hero energy. Because, of course, we know Captain Pike's history. And when you think about the Nightfall story, for folks who aren't familiar with the Nightfall story in in Batman, this is a situation where Bane broke Batman's back. This story inspired The Dark Knight Rises. There's also it's one of the seminal works in in the Batman mythology.
Will (1:55): And so Bruce is, you know, is shaken to the core because this is shortly after Jason Todd has also is no longer Robin. So he is carrying all the weight of Gotham on his shoulders. And who better to portray that than Anson Mount, especially given that we what we know about Captain Pike and his what he what he brings to that character. He'll definitely bring that same energy, I think, to Batman and the Dark Knight. And and, of course, we did as I noted before, this is the second time that he is is portraying the character.
Will (2:24): Also, there's also been another Star Trek angle to this as well because Bruce Greenwood, who portrayed Captain Pike in the Kelvin universe films star Star Trek 2,009 and also Star Trek Into Darkness, also voiced Batman in Under the Red Hood and and also Gotham by Gaslight and did also in Young Justice. So Star Trek and Batman definitely have a a lot there in common. So as I noted before, this this animated film, Nightfall Part one, which will be a trilogy, be coming Part one will be coming out later this year. Of course, we know Star Trek Strange New Worlds is going to be premiering on July 23. And, of course, yes, I did see the trailer for Strange New Worlds season four.
Will (3:11): I definitely think it is capturing the energy that the the showrunners have talked about where they really are trying to get back to that episodic nature of things. Of course, saw the the dinosaurs and the probably the Beringarian dragon and all the, you know, all the cool shots. But also, one of the things too that I really noticed about the trailer, and also the the key art here that I'm that I'm showing right now, is the prominence of Captain Paul Wesley's Kirk in season four. And it definitely looks like this this this fourth season is definitely getting us a lot closer to the original series timeline and and, of course, the the burgeoning relationship between Kirk and Spock. So that was very prominent in in the trailer that dropped just a couple this this month leading up to the second season as far as the official trailer.
Will (4:03): And so we're we're definitely getting that energy. And, of course, we definitely I I will think looking ahead to season five, that that definitely will be, I guess, the transition season over to to the original series. And and, of course, Ethan Peck and and Paul Wesley are both waiting for the call for potential Star Trek year one. I don't know if that's gonna be possible now given that the sound stages in Toronto have been broken down and everything, but I'm very hopeful that we do, at some point, get these characters back in a potential year one. A lot of things will have to happen there with as far as now with the transition of ownership at the studio at Paramount.
Will (4:39): But but just, really wanted to share the exciting news that we'll get to see Anson. And he he even, like, dropped it on his Instagram earlier this week that he'll that he's returning as as the Dark Knight. So very exciting news. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below as far as are you excited to see Anson Mount return as the Dark Knight? And also, what are you thinking about the upcoming fourth season?
Will (5:03): Quickly turning to a couple items of merch that will be coming out this year. We have a new from Loungefly, has a new licensing agreement with Star Trek, and they have a new Star Trek Tri Quarter Glow Crossbody Bag. Now, this is will cost you $65 US. It features glow in the dark detailing, shimmering polyurethane, also adjustable straps, in of course, according to the website, interior running. So, if you want to go to Star Trek Las Vegas, which is coming up in August, or any convention, Trek Long Island, etcetera, any convention conventions coming up in Philadelphia, Philadelphia.
Will (5:42): Who wants to their convention bag to look like Starfleet issued it? This bag is for you. We also have a hallmark, of course, has many commemorative ornaments. I'm fortunate to have an Enterprise one that I have at my office that the hallmark's twenty twenty six Star Trek exclusive ornament is the Shuttle Einstein from the original series episode, The Doomsday Machine. If you recall, The Doomsday Machine is the episode where we see the Enterprise come upon the wreck of the USS Constellation with the giant Planet Killer.
Will (6:10): And the Shuttle Einstein, whenever they redid the the special effects to update them in the earlier the February, the they they switched out the reuse of footage of the Galileo and utilized the shuttlecraft Einstein in its place. And this ornament is the one that Decker used to fly into the into the mall of the planet killer. It is going to be sold online through hallmark.com in October. And usually, these are sold as collectibles at conventions, but this will be a bill able to get this online. But there are only gonna be 5,000 units that are gonna be produced, and they are priced at $45 US and only one per customer.
Will (6:53): So, for folks who are original series fans and original series collectors, this is definitely something for you. Also, Factory Entertainment has also has some more merch coming out, and they are producing three more collectibles, including gold pressed platinum bars, which, of course, is the currency that we're all familiar with from the DS nine using three d scans of the original props. These are all pre ordered priced. They're scheduled to ship in August. Also, there is the Catan necklace replica from the very famous episode of The Next Generation, The Inner Light, where Picard lives out the life of another person in episode.
Will (7:33): And this is preordered to at sixty nine dollars ninety nine cent US. And it's also targeted for a August release. And then finally, for fans, the first pilot for for the original series, the laser cannon that was featured prominently prominently on on the planet Thales. That laser cannon replica is also going to be expected in August, and you can also preorder that now at Factory Entertainment. And, it's also scheduled at $99.99.
Will (8:04): So this is these are all items that Quark would definitely love to have. Right? So and would approve of. So those are some merch related items that are part of the news this week. Let me know if you're gonna order any of these items.
Will (8:16): Let me know if you're gonna be going to any of the conventions. I'm a hopefully try to make it to one of the ones this year. But, that is last week in Star Trek for the week ending 06/27/2026. Let me know your thoughts about all of these stories in the comments. I'm looking forward to season four of Star Trek Strange New Worlds coming up on July 23.
